“9 months ago I had a lot of fear and fear based actions some that belonged to me and some that were my ancestors. Through the experience of Liberation School I began to remember my joy. Rocking in the rocking chairs with all of you reminded me of sitting on the porch doing the same with my beloved grandparents. I had found a new group of beloved people. My grandmother loved to grow plants, flowers and vegetables. I also love plants. Again through Liberation School I began to make medicine. I began to do what my mother always told me...slow down and breathe. My body and my spirit began to be renewed. This weekend, I shared my pain with a childhood oppressor. I feel so much better. I was strong enough to start this process because of all of you. Thank you for supporting me and being my people on this journey. I have so much gratitude and love for all that each of you have taught me.”

“ I feel seen and held by the community created at Liberation School South in a way that has encouraged me to lean into authenticity and magic. To be surrounded by love, compassion and intention has created new ways of thinking and dreaming what our movement for liberation can look like.”

“In organizing, I know that confidence is the biggest challenge for good organizers and it’s something I work on a lot with new organizers. This weekend finally gave me confidence in my ability to see and make magic.

Radical hospitality. When people open their home to others with generosity. When someone makes sure everyone can eat by going out of their way to secure items based on dietary and allergy needs. When a fire is built. Meals around a table. Favorite recipes and stories are swapped. Walks, yoga, breath. Clean towels and sheets. Tea. When you break something and “It’s no problem.” It’s clear you are welcome. All of you. You leave with a book, questions to spin and answers to come, a lingering knowing: connection heals.

“I've deepened practices that ground me by connecting me to my ancestry, which includes a powerful lineage of Mexicana healers and teachers."
